Some friends and I were talking the other day, and the different candies that we offer came up in the conversation. It seemed like almost every candy that they mentioned, triggered a specific event for them from their childhood. So we got talking about things we did when we were kids. Some of us, it appears, got into some mischief when we were young. There were discussions about vacations we took, things that happened at school, and things we had done during playtime.

I told a story about how the town I grew up in had a Main Street that was lined with the different stores for everything you needed or wanted. We had a barber shop, beauty salon, dime store, grocery store, separate stores for mens and women's clothes, a drug store, shoe store, bakery, cafes, and even a hobby shop. This was all within a two block stretch on Main Street. It just couldn't get any better than that. My friends arrived at the conclusion that spending my childhood in a town like that is the reason that I am such a Nostalgia nut Today. I could go on for hours with stories about the memories that were made for me in that little town during the 1960's.

We'd like to hear about some of your favorite childhood memories. Feel free to share them with us here.

I remember going to the supermarket and there would be "towers" of Brach's candy. I remember hating them because they were like taffy and stuck to your teeth--but I always remember wanting to "play" with them because it looked like a game of some sort. Kind of like how kids played with blocks. :)

The candy I remember loving most, and now I wonder why other than it tastes like straight sugar, are the dots that came on the long sheet of paper... ewe!!! LOL! I loved them then!!!!

My brother and I would scrape up spare change and walk down to the corner to Hook's and buy Atomic Warheads. We would eat those sour things until the citric acid wore out our taste buds!!!

After grade school, we always visited the corner candy store for candy buttons and Jolly Rancher sticks we would trade in class the next day. We all loved the root beer filled wax candy and wax lips. I have to admit we liked to get the candy cigarettes, too. We thought they were cool at the time.

I absolutely love candy. I always got so excited when my mom gave me a little bit of money so I could run to the corner store and buy something that looked interesting and fun to eat. I always loved fun dips (and still do at the age of twenty seven) as well as 'penny' candy. :)

My mom's favorite candy was a chewy butterscotch type candy that had a whole pecan in the middle. I wish I knew what they were called or if anyone still makes them. She kept them in the freezer so we'd only take out a couple at a time... otherwise the bag would have been gone in a minute!
